Managing Your Xero Connection

DonorChase administrators manage the connection from Settings → Xero Connection. The page shows which Xero organisation you're connected to and when DonorChase last synced with it.

Syncing now

DonorChase syncs with Xero every night. If you've just raised invoices or recorded payments in Xero and want to see them straight away, click Sync Now. It usually takes under a minute, and the Last synced time updates when it's done.

If a sync fails

If DonorChase can't complete a sync, the Xero Connection page shows when it failed and the reason Xero gave, and a banner at the top of every page warns that your figures may be out of date. Your existing data is kept and still shown.

Most failures are temporary, for example when Xero is briefly unavailable, and clear themselves on the next sync. You can click Sync Now to try again. If the error keeps coming back, email info@donorchase.com with the message shown and we'll look into it.

Disconnecting from Xero

You can disconnect at any time, in either of two ways:

When DonorChase is disconnected:

Disconnecting doesn't cancel your DonorChase subscription. To cancel, see the FAQ.

Reconnecting

On Settings → Xero Connection, click Connect to Xero, sign in to Xero and allow access again. When Xero asks you to choose an organisation, choose the same one as before: DonorChase checks it's the right organisation, and asks you to try again if it isn't. Syncing then picks up where it left off, and everything changed in Xero while you were disconnected comes across on the next sync.

If the person who connected DonorChase leaves

The connection was authorised with that person's Xero login. If their login is removed from your Xero organisation, the connection may stop working, and DonorChase will show it as disconnected. Any DonorChase administrator can then reconnect it, as above, using their own Xero login.
