DonorChase was founded by Yehuda Neuberger, a certified accountant with extensive experience in the education and charitable sectors. Yehuda spent many years working closely with donors, parents, and other pledgers, during which he recognised the limitations of existing bookkeeping packages. These packages were essential for basic financial information but fell short in managing donor relationships and scheduling follow-ups.

Traditional debt collection software was also unsuitable for charities, as it focused on automated, often aggressive reminders and selling debt to third parties. Such approaches are incompatible with the charitable sector, where maintaining long-term relationships with donors is crucial.

 



Yehuda's work with constantly updating and sharing spreadsheets led to the creation of DonorChase. What made us create DonorChase?

After years of assisting charities with donor communications, we identified significant gaps in existing bookkeeping packages. These packages were not designed to handle the unique needs of charities, such as scheduling reminders and sharing information across teams. Traditional debt collection methods were unsuitable for voluntary donations, memberships and school fees. Recognising the need for a tailored solution, we developed DonorChase.
